Vacation Part I - DETOX.
today was our first day of vacation.
but it doesn't feel like it yet.
the first few days of vacation really serve as a DETOX period.
it's not just a period of winding down from the schedule of working, or the nights away from my family on YOUth events.
it's the letting go of the weight that i carry as a shepherd of young people. the coming alongside, and helping to shoulder their burdens as i try to point them to Jesus.
but it's not only that-
it's detoxing from the poisonous words of the self-righteous WITHIN the Church.
it's the unloading of the extra-biblical baggage that the christian-culture heaps on in the form of "expectations" and cultural taboos.
it's the continual blocking of the openhand issues that religious fundamentalists cram into the closedhand.
it's working through the reality that YOU can't understand exactly what i'm referring to until you're here.
sometimes kristi and i feel really alone in this.
so if you think of it over the next few days, please pray for me and my family.
that we would be able to have a Sabbath rest and be restored.
then we will return again to the battle.
we will take on hell with our water pistol.

and this is why i'm done. this is why i'm quitting.
I'll be praying for you Justin and your family...have patience with me I just want to help. I'm willing to jump in there with you to help with the burden.
I know that water pistol is filled with Holy Water. From a fountain that can't be seen or touched. Enjoy your rest and renewell.
