singing a song by STYX.
when we were in the San Juan Islands this past weekend, we took a day trip to Friday Harbor. one of the highlights was walking the docks, checking out all the boats and daydreaming of sailing off into the sunset towards uninhabited islands with my family...
and then i came across the coolest boat i've ever seen.
i like that it's not a sailboat, and i like that it's unique looking.
i like that it's not large. i like that it's super simple.
but i have no idea what it's called or any technical terms to describe it.
seriously, this boat has gotten into my soul... i want to learn more!
maybe one of my nautically-inclined readers could help me to identify it?
[i'm looking at you, COAST-GUARD-KENAN!]

isn't she classy?

I think she's called a tugboat.
Though I'm no expert.
Not what i would want if my dream was to Sail off anywhere. Does't have enough sail area for my taste.
anonymous: VERY FUNNY! i laughed. and i also thought of that as i wrote it, but the STYX song lyrics are "come SAIL away" and it sounds more romanticized than "steam off into the sunset"... but i guess that sounds good too! [as long as we're headed to an UNINHABITED island for a little while!!!
and shalisa, i originally thought it was a converted "tugboat" style, but then it wasn't very large. you may be right, i'm no expert either.
but i was hoping an "expert" would tells us what i want to know.
we'll see!
thanks for the comments, people.
