"this is where the sport is loosing fans. the system, the judging, it's too confusing. the crowd just saw a spectacular skill, they don't understand why a gymnast is not rewarded for it, that's wrong."
it was brilliant. i cried. don't ask. my wife made me watch it. and i love her for it.
i heard these guys playing in urraco this morning. and i found my foot tapping along to their beat. oooh... what a nice discovery. augustana. check them out.
They've put a brassiere on the camel, She wasn't dressed proper, you know. They've put a brassiere on the camel, So that her humps wouldn't show. And they're making other respectable plans, They're even insisting that pigs should wear pants, They'll dress up the ducks if we give them a chance Since they've put a brassiere on the camel.
They've put a brassiere on the camel, They claim she's more decent this way. They've put a brassiere on the camel, The camel had nothing to say. They squeezed her into it, I'll never know how, They say that she looks more respectable now, Lord knows what they've got in mind for the cow, Since they've put a brassiere on the camel.
i don't ever want to be a "conservative churchie". ever.
BS and i had a great conversation with a student today about "swearing". i very much respect the way this student processes thoughts, and i hope that they come to a personal conclusion on the matter. in fact, i have no doubt they will. and they'll be better off for it.
so, in the spirit of this idea, i thought i'd pass along this nifty tool. i know when i feel like letting someone have it, there's nothing better than making sure i'm being "biblical".
"Take heed, thou lazy Babylonian, for you will beget difficult teenagers!"
i have been getting back into dashboard confessional.
what?
no, i'm not gay. no, my marriage is going great. no, it's not his new CD.
it's his older stuff. his song writing and creative guitar playing. man, what a talented little man. and seriosuly, one of the best live shows i've ever seen.
for the last few years, i've tried every once in a while to listen to dashboard off the cuff, but i just couldn't do it because i am in a succesful marriage relationship. back in the single days, man i LOVED dashboard. but then, when i met kristi, he just sounded like a whinny baby to me. and probably does to most of you.
that's ok.
i'm enjoying it and it is bringing a smile to my face. and a song to my heart...
Now I know what you are thinking, what the heck is Mesothelioma. Well it is a form of lung cancer that is caused by the inhalation of asbestos particles.
Well that is fine and all Justin[Ryan], but why are you posting a blog post about Mesothelioma. Well the main reason I am is because I want a new home server for the holzgrove household. for me to download and host all of my media on.
In case you haven't noticed, recently I started running Google AdSense on my blog page in hopes of making a few bucks. I have to say thanks to myself[Justin] for pointing me to the idea.
Well today while I was chatting with Ryan Smith, who was chatting with Brian Dickman a different day and he pointed Ryan, who pointed me to this article. What it talks about is basically there are a bunch of lawyers out there that are basically ambulance chasers looking for new victims of asbestos inhalation who want to sue people. I think this is part of the problem in America, we are a sue happy people. Now I am not saying that these people who were potentially harmed by asbestos inhalation don't need assistance, but if the companies they were working for did not know of the hazards of asbestos then why should they be held liable for the pain and suffering of their employees now. You could use the same argument that the employees are the ones at fault since they showed up for work, they had the same knowledge of harm that their employers did. Now if some business was knowingly sending their employees into harms way, that is a different story, but I tend to believe those cases are few and far between.
So basically this whole article is my way of "sticking it to the man and Ryan, who has made like $60 through AdSense in the time I made $6.85" where the man in this case is the lawyers out there looking to take advantage of suffering indivuals out there (because honestly, the lawyer will more than likely see more of the settlement in attorney fees that the actual individual will).
So if the ads that show up on my page are related to asbestos induced cancer, I encourage you to follow the links and check out these individuals who are looking to make a buck off of other people's pain and suffering (not only that, but you will help put bucks in my pocket and ryan's too).
what is real beauty? is beauty only skin deep? what role does makeup play in beauty? concelears? colors? cover up? does hair styles or hair products effect beauty? does makeup enhance or detract from beauty? am i generating good ads with all of these skin care and cosmotology comments? is that beautiful? my wife is beautiful. i know that. my son is beautiful. that is also fact.
i've found that i've been reading a few more "blogs" lately and i've really appreciated them. i've added them to my side column of "readable blogs" and i want to share them with you on an official basis in hopes that you peruse their contents.
a note about the two versions of this image. justin marshall of the justin marshall band is absolutely incredible. hats off to this talented gentleman. this was before the feedback. and the adobe photoshop CS2 tutorial on gradient screens. see above for version 2.0 ...so much better.
please watch this and leave your thoughts and comments. i'm very conflicted. as this topic is a large part of my life. and i really want to see this movie.
my wife and i went to see Derek Webb [and Sandra McCracken... his wife] in concert last night at mars hill church's Paradox Theatre in seattle. it was absolutely incredible.
derek's honest lyrics and great singer/songwriter stylings are excellent.
he's very political in his writings and for the most part they get under people's skin. that's what i love the most about his stuff. it's unahamed truth. and he's the first to stand in line to say that he also screws up and has a difficult time following jesus.
he focused a lot on loving your enemies and how truly difficult that is, to really do it. he also focused a lot on justice and it was so encouraging, since 1bC YOUth's new series for this month is SI | YOUGOWORLD, focusing on social injustice in Honduras, Africa, and Shelton, WA. check it out here.
he's releasing his newest record "mockingbird" for free on www.freederekwebb.com. download it. tell your friends. give your money to someone else. a very bold move. he puts his money where his mouth is. [a few highlights: a new law, a king and a kingdom, love is not against the law, and rich young ruler.]
check it out. examin his lyrics. examin your heart.

*just a head's up: this post is way too long and contains nothing good. it will be a waste of time for you to read it. and it will probably make you mad as i say offensive things, which i'm still trying to process. just go click one of the ads. and go eat at the little creek casino's seafood bar.
on friday night my wife and i went on a date to the little creek casino's seafood bar, on the recomendation of a very great friend of mine. our experience was absolutely wonderful. the food was delicious. the food was fresh. the portions were generous. the atmosphere was great. the service was excellent. the price was right.
it was so good, that we returned on monday evening on a double date with BS, summer, and canyon. again... everything was perfect. in fact, better than that. the nive gentleman that served us, Chris, was very personable and generous. he's the waiter in the foreground of the promo picture on the seafood bar website here.
i am looking for excuses to return there. anyone want to help me on that quest?
BUT HERE'S THE THING: i feel conflicted being a patron there, as i often feel that the native americans, in general, don't deserve or apply their native american rights properly. this tribe is the squaxin tribe, and i do note that they present [at least their business ventures] in a very different way than our northern natives, the skookomish tribe. you see, in my understanding, the native americans were granted many privledges from our government because of the way they were "mistreated" in our country's westward expansino stages. one of the main reasons they were granted these special circumstances was so that they can retain their culture, identity, and heritage amongst the western american culture. however, most indian reservations are known for what? -casinos -fireworks -tobacco -liquor -excessive hunting -poverty -crime i don't think the native americans of 'yesterday' would say, "yes. this is what we are about." take for instance this past 4th of july, when danyul and i made this super awesome video:
we went to the indian reservation to buy fireworks. we went there because they are the only place to get "the good stuff". they can have "the good stuff" because of the special privledges our country has given them. the very country that they feel has ruined their history. and danyul and i, pure-blooded americans, went to the reservation to take advantage of their exemptions in order to celebrate a holiday that celebrates america's independance... and the beginnings of it's conquest of the continent, and it's native people. do you see the paradox?
so, i don't want to support native americans in the things that they can do that is not honoring to what i understand is the culture of their past. for instance gambling at the casino. HOWEVER, i will continue to frequent their restaurant [read: seafood bar] any opportunity i have, because anybody can run a restaurant, wether you're indian or not. i'll probably also buy "the good stuff" from them on and around firework days, too.
so is that me being selfish and narrow minded and even a little bit racist. probably.
ANOTHER FUNNY THING: the little creek casion just built a HUGE parking garage, did a ton of remodels, is building another wing of their hotel [with a 3rd to come], has a brand new sweet jumbotron video screen, a new huge concert venue, a brand new golf course, a brand new tobacco facility, plans for a waterpark, and a full face lift to it's proerty. i wonder if the people who gamble there think they're coming out on top?
fools.
*i don't know what my point is other than: -the seafood bar is great. i will return. -i like what the little creek casino & hotel is doing and maybe i'm a little bit jealous. -like the native hawaiians, i think most indians are looking for excuses, handouts, and need to get their act together. [i'd say this about most people in america's lower class] -i've got nothing against the people. maybe just something against their logic.
